CNC-miller (5-shifts)

As a CNC Miller, you will work on various products, mostly highly complex ones bordering on the limits of feasibility. In this case, it involves milling large products with dimensions up to 3x3x1 meters. These are produced on large 5-axis machining centers with pallet exchange systems or 5-axis gantry machines. As a Miller, you are responsible for the execution of the manufacturing process. At VDL ETG Almelo, we have invested in 3 large gantry milling machines, each approximately 25 meters long. You will assist in setting up and operating these new machines and the associated processes. These machines are equipped with Siemens SL controls. In the future, we plan to expand to 7 of these machines. You will be part of an autonomous team with various disciplines (programmer, skilled worker, factory engineer, etc.), allowing your team to operate autonomously. The initial products on these new machines will be aluminum products, which are reduced from 20 tons of material to 2 tons of final product. These products are highly complex and intended for the semiconductor industry. High-quality standards are paramount in this context. As a large Miller, you will read and interpret drawings and work instructions independently, set up the machine, produce the products, and perform necessary in-process checks. In the case of new work, you will provide constructive feedback to the programmer. If there are quality issues, you will conduct a root cause analysis and contribute to error prevention efforts.

Given the complexity of the products, we are looking for individuals who can maintain an overview and execute their work with great precision. You have a level of thinking (acquired through experience or education) comparable to at least vocational education, a sense of precision, and a passion for your work. Other essential qualities for the role include:

• Experience as a CNC Miller;
• Preferably, a completed education in machining;
• Experience with the use of measuring tools;
• Ability to read technical drawings accurately;
• Structured and precise working abilities;
• Effective use of tools and machines;
• Team player;
• Sense of quality;
• Willingness to work in a 5-shift system.
