Description

IDC has a close connection to Twente’s business community, knowledge institutions and trade organisations in the field of design and styling. IDC offers a meeting place where designers, manufacturers, the business community, teachers and students can inspire and challenge each other for bundling, strengthening and the international profiling of knowledge and skills. This results in spontaneous collaborations, and creative ideas are converted into added value for a sustainable future in Twente and the rest of the world.

Design questions and solutions

As a centre for knowledge and expertise, IDC focuses on improving the climate for industrial design in Twente. Unique or special ‘Industrial Design’ cases from Twente are profiled nationally and internationally. IDC also offers online and offline platforms where designers, companies and interested parties can meet and share knowledge and expertise. This online platform is the IDC Knowledge Forum, where design questions and development issues are exchanged to come to solutions with other designers.

Network of designers and design agencies

IDC promotes numerous initiatives in the field of Industrial Design regarding cooperation, research, the transfer of knowledge and the guidance of projects related to product development. It also helps customers and connects them to the appropriate design agency. IDC systematically strengthens the close network of industrial designers in and outside Twente, partly through the targeted use of design students from Saxion University of Applied Sciences. This is how IDC promotes cooperation and the transfer of knowledge within the triangle of designers, the industry and education institutions.

A peek behind the curtains

An IDC Design Meeting offers a peek behind the curtains of other design agencies and manufacturing companies in and outside Twente. Current issues are central, and insight is gained into which production processes and materials are applied. Always to seize market opportunities. IDC also initiates subsidy programmes, promotes the transfer of knowledge between educational institutions and companies, and links design students to companies or companies to each other.

Network partners

Industrial Design Center (IDC) works on a sustainable future together with other network organisations such as Saxion University of Applied Sciences in Enschede, Advanced Materials Manufacturing Oost-Nederland (AMMON) in Enschede and Open Innovation Center Advanced Materials (OICAM) in Nijverdal.

Industrial Design Center’s goal

IDC stimulates initiatives in the field of Industrial Design regarding cooperation, research, the transfer of knowledge and the guidance of projects related to product development.
