Job summary:

The Technical Sales Support Specialist will work in the Technical Sales Support team. The department is responsible for sizing, specification, selection, and general layout design of separation technologies utilized in the industrial and municipal water markets. The portfolio of filtration and separations solutions includes consumables and capital equipment as applicable to the clients need. Equipment includes standalone solutions, semi integrated solutions (equipment, valves and instrumentation), or as fully integrated packaged equipment (equipment, skid frame and supports, instrumentation, valves, controls, and piping). Although the conceptual design of the equipment will be determined by the application engineer, formal equipment & piping design will be in accordance with the applicable code and Pentair’s design guidelines.  The Application Engineer will be responsible for development of technical and commercial proposals, conceptual design.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Technical and Commercial Proposal Development / Pre-Sales Support
• Lead project discovery meetings in coordination with regional sales account managers
• Review customer requirements,  project specifications, and application information to determine the best technology for the project
• Use Pentair proprietary programs and knowledge libraries to determine, recommend and select application specific products, generate guidelines and solution data sheets
• Create and collaborate on project P&IDs to define scope of supply
• Identify and recommend suitable instrumentation and controls when required according to customer specification and requirements
• Obtain quotes from approved vendors and internal teams to develop sound technical and commercial proposals.
• Work with project team including project managers to ensure a quality product is delivered on time and within budget per original design intent.

Desired education and skills:

• Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering
• Prior experience with industrial water treatment technologies and systems.
• Experience with PFDs, P&IDs, isometrics drawings, and bill of materials
• Experience with the design and layout of skidded systems including piping and instrumentation  
• Experience in selection of instrumentation, valves, & level control technologies
• Works efficiently with minimal supervision
• Familiarity with API, ASME, ANSI codes required
• Self-motivated, and able to produce high quality results within time and budget constraints
• Muti-task in proposal & design engineering related disciplines concurrently

DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS

• Familiarity with advanced filtration/separation concepts such as membrane technologies
• Experience with 3D modeling, Plant 3D, AutoCAD, Inventor
• Promote team work environment and collaboration

• Clearly express oneself orally and in writing
• Continuous improvement mindset
• Background in hands-on manufacturing and operations support
