Circularity
We use the earth’s resources for food, clothes and many other products we use on a daily basis. But we also use energy every day. The earth does not have infinite provisions, though, so it is time to become more circular. Twente is doing particularly well when it comes to energy, circular agriculture and textiles.
Energy
It is important that we work together for the greater good in this energy transition: emitting less CO2 and looking for solutions for renewable energy. Twente has both the space and the knowledge to come up with smart solutions, which will allow us to reduce and save energy.
Circular agriculture
Climate change and population growth means that farmers need make sustainable and efficient use of well-fed soils, raw materials, water and energy. Many companies and knowledge institutions in Twente work together to develop new methods and technologies for agriculture that contribute to a better world.
Textiles
Twente has a long history and textile and has a lot of knowledge and expertise on textile recycling. Twente is a frontrunner when it comes to making the textile industry circular; an important goal in the energy transition. Company such as Blue LOOP, SaXcell, Frankenhuis, Texperium, Enschede Textielstad and the Circular Textile Lab all contribute to recycling textiles, so that old textiles can be used as a new raw material.
