Fieldlab: smart thermal energy system
At the HTSP, start-ups and mature companies work together on open innovations in field labs. One of these field labs is the ‘Bronnet’: an initiative of High Tech Systems Park in collaboration with DWA, Enpuls and Thales.
In this field lab, an energy-neutral campus is being realized step by step. It comprises a closed network of three pipes, which supplies cold and heat to the companies on the innovation campus, harvested from local energy sources. Both offices and production halls exchange heat and cold in a smart way.
The system has been developed as an open heating network. This approach reduces the CO2 emissions of the companies by at least 50% and saves more than 20% on energy. In addition to direct savings, this field lab also offers opportunities for innovation, such as with big data, energy storage or other developments on a living network.
